David's Medical Relief Fund
Donation protected

Hi, my name is Amy, and I am fundraising for my mother-in-law, Valerie Rozanski.
On 8/31/23, my father-in-law, David Rozanski collapsed at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, IL and was in cardiac arrest. CPR was immediately started, and an EMS crew was at his side within 30 seconds. They were able to get his heart beating at a normal rate. David was stabilized and transported to Decatur Memorial Hospital and was later transported via helicopter to Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, IL.
Due to the fall, David broke his C2 vertebra, and the neurologist later discovered a cervical epidural hematoma which was determined inoperable, causing paralysis from the neck down. The neurological damage, pain management and other supportive measures began to take a toll on David's overall mental and physical health. After consulting with a second neurosurgeon, the final prognosis was not the life David wished to live and he was able to convey his wishes to not continue life sustaining care. On 9/11, David was placed on comfort measures and on 9/12, he peacefully passed away with family at his bedside.
We would like to continue the support and relieve Valerie of any financial burden expected from the medical expenses endured for the transportation, intensive care, funeral and burial arrangements.
The Rozanski family would like to give a special thank you to CBMC ICU, the EMS team that helped David at the scene, the DMH ED and to the Air Evac flight crew for the incredible care during medical transport to Carle BroMenn in Normal, IL. The family would also like to extend their appreciation for the Bethany Fire/EMS team and to the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church for their continued support during this extremely tough time.
Thank you for reading our story and for your support. Please share this with your friends and family on social media or by email. Every dollar counts and every donation is a blessing for Valerie during this unexpected financial hardship.
