Hi, My name is Brett Britton and I am respectfully requesting assistance to help with the medical transportation of my Father Barry back to Australia to get much-needed medical help. Barry has been living in considerable pain in the Philippines for the past three years and is unable to get the medical treatments he would usually get back in Australia. Barry has now advanced dementia and a bulging Hernia that the Doctors in the Philippines are reluctant to operate on. I would like to present my request for assistance to assist with the safe medical return of my father to Australia for urgent medical assistance.

Barry has served in RAN for 12 years. Barry was unfortunately onboard the HMAS Voyager, a Daring-class destroyer of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), that was lost in a collision in 1964, The extreme circumstances of this collision with the HMS Melbourne have caused a lifetime of mental health concerns to my father. Barry has suffered from PTSD all of his life due to this unfortunate event. Barry also served on the

HMS Sydney and HMS Perth during the Vietnam war.

Barry also served in the West Australian DFES (West Australian Fire Fighting brigade) for 23 years. Barry is much respected by his peers and colleagues for his service to the community through the City of Stirling for 14 years. Barry was Deputy mayor for a time and held elected councilor for 12 consecutive years before returning for an additional 2 years before the PTSD took hold of his life.

In November 2022, I visited my father in the Philippines after being isolated from him for 3 years because of the covit19 pandemic. When I visited Barry it has become very obvious that his mental health has deteriorated considerably beyond the existing PTSD that Barry has been living with since 1964. Barry has advanced dementia and is suffering daily from a Hernia that is extremely inflamed. I intend to bring my father back to Australia to receive the medical treatments he needs and to place him in aged care. I am very concerned for the health of my father and I am reaching out for assistance to help with the return of my father to Australia.

I have been granted Administrative and guardianship of my father by the State Administrative Tribunal. I hope that a suitably qualified escort can join me when I collect my father from the Philippines and return him to a hospital in Perth. I am confident that when I get my father back to Australia after being unable to return due to the Pandemic, many people will help Barry medically and I am prepared to create a fundraising event to assist with the costs associated with Barry’s return to Australia. All contributions toward any costs associated with the safe return of Barry to Australia. Any additional funds raised that exceed the costs to relocate Barry will be donated to a charity. I will provide updates to demonstrate our appreciation to everyone who contributes.

I am not experienced medically to assist Barry on my own. Barry will require a full medical-assisted travel escort to return to Australia. I as Barry's Guardian will escort Barry back to Australia and ensure Barry is placed in the care he requires. Barry has served the community with distinction in his life and he finds himself needing assistance more than ever before. It's with a heavy heart I write this letter to you. My wife and children are aware of the toll this is having on me and all I want to do is get my father back into the medical care he deserves.
