Medical Van for Aiden

Donation protected

Hi, My name is Jessica. I am raising money to help purchase a Medical Van that is already wheelchair accessible for my friend, Keri, who is a 24/7 caretaker of her 8 year old son, Aiden. This van is specifically set up to meet Aiden’s transport needs.

The Why:
This Go Fund Me is most needed, as we have found a 2010 Dodge Caravan already wheelchair accessible to include a ramp with medical tie downs. This van is the most reasonable deal we have found, as these vans in newer condition start at $15K. This would be an ideal purchase entirely for Aiden and Keri, along with extra funds to make any accommodations for Aiden.  In addition, I am hoping for extra cushion for any maintenance needed, as it is a used vehicle; Lastly, my hope is to bless her enough with one year paid full coverage insurance for the van. I know this van would be PERFECT for transporting Aiden in his wheelchair with ease, yet I am need of your help to make this happen.

As expected, Aiden is growing fast, and transferring him from a car seat to his wheelchair has been, and will become harder with his continued growth. Due to an auto accident back in October 2018, their Impala sustained significant damage with an immense expense to repair.  They have been relying on city transportation and friends to commute them both to doctor appointments, therapies, school, pharmacy and the store. Keri is unable to work due to being a single parent, and a full-time caretaker for Aiden. He has an intense schedule to maintain daily.  Therefore, trying to put money aside on a fixed income of just her son's SSI and child support is just not enough, nor fast enough.

I am asking for your help to assist myself, and our family as her village by making a donation one by one to purchase this van. Keri needs us to help make this possible. She well deserves this efficient van for Aiden.

The Knowledge:
Aiden was born via c-section 38 weeks normally.  At 4 months, he was not showing any signs of physical development. Aiden’s first MRI was completed being diagnosed with complete agensis of the corpus callosum with lissencephaly.

In the following years, he has been diagnosed with seizures, spastic cerebral palsy, scoliosis, hypotonia (upper extremities), hypertonia (lower extremities), esotropia, nystagmus, developmental delay, reflux, aspiration, autism spectrum, and he's non-verbal.  Aiden is a social butterfly via “Kool-Aid Smiles.” You'd never know by looking at him the daily obstacles or challenges he has been through, as his joy shines daily through it all.

Aiden has out of town medical appointments to include specialists in Jacksonville, Gainesville, Orlando, and Miami. In addition, Aiden has 8 in town therapy sessions weekly, to include part-time school.

Aiden’s Mother, Keri, has been solely his caretaker.  At one time, she was able to find part-time homecare to work 25 hours a week, yet the availability and quality of care was unacceptable to meet Aiden’s needs.

Therefore, Keri became his FT Caretaker instead of working. This has been remarkable in the unexpected change, as Aiden has become more than his many diagnosis by defeating the odds in the inabilities. One of his doctors has stated “if I had not analyzed his MRI in the same room with him, I would not believe this was the same child!” In addition, another doctor stated “for a child to have complete agenesis with lissencephaly, he looks amazing; you are a great Mother, you are doing a really good job, seriously!” He still faces many challenges, yet the both of them continue to be resilient in their challenges. Today, this is why she depends solely on a fixed income to selflessly dedicate her strengths into Aiden’s “in-abilities.”
