Medical Update for Tyler WIlliams
Donation protected
As you may remember, I did a Go Fundme page for Tyler WIlliam in December of 2020. We raised 2x our goals thanks to everyone's generosity. I am hoping you can contribute once again to help Tyler with mounting medical bills and help defray the cost of making the US Para Olympic Team.
For those of you who don't know Ty, his list of skiing successes is long and deep. 7 times X Games skier cross participant, 6 times participants of the 24 hours of Aspen World Endurance Ski Championships with two wins, and participant in the world pro big mountain tour for 10 years. He qualified for the World University Games while he was at Western State College. Prior to losing the use of his leg, he was coaching at the Aspen Valley Ski Club. He has been giving back to the communities youth through his work with AVSC for a number of years.
Tylers update is below. I hope you can donate to help Tyler reach his goals and keep on healing!
Help me keep healing and inspiring! My goal for the next few years is to keep going to Physical therapy and Occupational therapy every day and to train to make the US Para Olympic ski team! If you are able, I need your help!
I have a mass on the left side of my brain which causes the right side of my body to be partially paralyzed. The mass is called a brain AVM, and throughout my life, it has been growing and causing more and more problems. There is high-pressure blood running through the mass so it is very dangerous; it could burst. I chose a procedure to remove the mass called the gamma knife. The two-person surgery was far too dangerous which could increase my risk of death. I did not want that since I already had so many problems moving my body. With the Gamma knife, they put you in a halo and tie you down, and the lasers zap the mass. I receive three of those once every six months. Then it takes five years for the mass to go away. We are now 3 1/2 years in, and the mass is 75% smaller!
Growing up as a competitive skier has prepared me for this battle. There is no way for me to achieve my goals without going to dryland training every day, setting goals, and trying to be as strong as possible and the best athlete possible.
I have The Best Team Possible both at the Aspen Valley Hospital physical and occupational therapy department and at Bridging Bionics! I wouldn’t be anywhere without them so thank you Very Very much! Krista, Maria, Katherine, Kimber!!!
