January 2020, I was told that I had chondrosarcoma in the pelvis - a rare type of cancer. As with any diagnosis, this one brought much difficulty. Due to the type of cancer, I had to move over 500 miles to obtain treatment at a specialized center. Initial chemotherapy treatments were positive as seen with subsequent scans.  The next step required surgery to remove the entire pelvis.  The surgery was successful and resulted in a month and a half of hospitalization. Now we are on to the next step that involves more chemotherapy along with physical therapy to become mobile again since there was no reconstruction of the pelvis.
