Hello
My name is Paul Lovett. I am a U.S. Military Army Veteran who proudly served our country. I suffer from hearing loss, P.T.S.D. and anxiety from the military.,
I am a retired Correctional Officer of 32 years and 9 months for the Indiana Dept. of Corrections. I retired on Oct. 29th, 2020. After I retired, I found myself in the position of having to go back to work for health insurance for myself. My wife is disabled so she has Medicare insurance.
I am a father of 4 children. One daughter from my first marriage, a son and a daughter with my current wife, and we adopted a daughter out of the foster care system of which we fostered over 83 children over 7 years. We also claim 2 young ladies we have adopted into our family as our daughters, whom we Love. Blood doesn't make a family, Love does.
I am also a proud PAPA of 3 grandsons, and 1 granddaughter whom I Love with all my heart.
All of our children are grown now, so it is my wife and I dream to retire in the Great Smokey Mountains of TN.

On Jan 6, 2023. I became very ill. I started having trouble breathing, and walking, and had severe swelling in my body, especially in my feet. My feet began to crack and bleed.
I went to my family Dr. I was examined there and was told to go straight to the Emergency room. I arrived at Emergency room where there I was examined and immediately admitted to the Hospital.
Over the next 4 days, I had a series of tests, x-rays, EKGs, Echocardiograms and Ultrasounds. At this time my body started to betray me.
I went into Congestive Heart Failure, Renal Failure. I was moved to the I.C.U. unit of the hospital. The Drs. ran more tests as you can imagine. With more blood work I felt like a human pin cushion. I had 4 IV ports in one arm and 1 in the other. I was not allowed to get up so when I had a bowel movement had to use a bedpan it is hard to let someone else wipe your backside for you when you can't do it yourself.
I underwent a Heart Catheterization, where the Dr. found out my heart is only functioning at 15% I am very weak. Due to Renal Failure, I had to undergo surgery to have a port placed in my carotid artery in my neck, to start Dialysis. After a few days of Dialysis, the port in my neck collapsed. I had to have another surgery, to have a port placed in my chest above my heart.

I spent a total of 18 days in the I.C.U. flat on my back, I'm a stomach sleeper so very difficult. My P.T.S.D. flared up tremendously and had to be sedated a few times. I also had to be medicated to help with it along with the anxiety of not being able to move.
  • The Dialysis removed 25 liters of fluids from my body. That equals out to be 55.1 lbs. WOW!! That is all I can say about that.
  • I was told by Heart Dr. I could potentially be placed on Heart and Kidney donor transplant list.
  • In my mind, all I could think about is the dreams and plans that my wife and I have of living out the rest of our days together in a 1 bedroom tiny home in the Smokey Mountains of TN.
  • My wife and I will be married for 23 years on March 10th of 2023. I want more than anything to be able to spend our 25th Annv. together in that tiny home if we find one.
  • Now I don't know if I can make that happen.
  • I pray every day. God will heal me so that I get to see that day, with my wife. The day we said our vowels I made her a promise. I told her I would love her NOW AND ALWAYS. I'M GIVING IT MY BEST FIGHT.
  • After 18 days I have been sent home with a Dialysis port in my chest to continue with Kidney function. Also sent home in a Life Vest which is a garment I have to wear 24 hours a day except for a shower. It is a portable Defibrillator to help keep me alive. I am on a very strict diet, medicine, exercise, and regimen to help strengthen, my heart. At that time, I will undergo surgery for a permanent defibrillator placed in my chest. Hopefully to give me a better chance at life.
  • I am asking you to please help me cover living expenses, such as shelter, food, Utilities, and gas to go to my Dr. Appointments and my Dialysis treatments. And my Medical Bills. I want to get better.
  • My wife says she is not going to let me give up, she refuses she said, (quote ) DAM IT!! We will Have NOW AND ALWAYS I WON'T SETTLE FOR ANYTHING ELSE.
  • We will do this together.
  • I know I'm living in God's time. Please just help make it easier on my wife. I know these are hard times for everyone, and I have never been a person to ask for this kind of help. I'm always the one helping. A wise person once told me a phrase. ( Pride goes before the fall).
  • So today I have put aside my pride for my wife to ask for anyone who is willing and can help to please do so.
Sincerely
Paul Lovett
& my Loving wife Tina Curd-Lovett
