Hi, my name is Brandy Fritz, I am fundraising for my brother Chris Selph, 41 that is currently in need of a kidney transplant due to chronic kidney failure.
Three years ago he was diagnosed with Kidney Failure due to high blood pressure. He first started noticing severe headaches, these were not taken seriously and were left mistreated and ignored by the medical staff. During covid, he became very ill and it was then that he found out that he was in the end stages of Kidney Failure and needed a kidney transplant. Chris was put on dialysis 3 days a week for 4 hours at a time, which caused him to be unable to work, sell his home and move into his RV.
Earlier this year during a follow-up with his cardiologist at Emory they found a microvalve misfunction with his heart and required surgery. The night before he was to go into the hospital he got the call from Emory that he has been waiting for, "we have a kidney".. only to have to turn them away due to the heart procedure, this had to be done before he could receive a kidney. He has been cleared by his cardiologist and he can be placed back on the transplant list.
During this process, he was able to change over to Peritoneal Dialysis, this particular treatment is done in the comfort of his own home every night for about 8 hours, this gives him a little more flexibility and a better quality of life. However, the effects are just as draining and he is still unable to work.
He is on the Emory Transplant list and he has finally been accepted at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla to be placed on their list as well. While this is WONDERFUL news it is considered outpatient and he will have to reside in Jacksonville for a week in February 2023. During this process, he will undergo an extensive workup with multiple tests so that he can officially be placed on the transplant list. This gives him more of an opportunity to receive a kidney, whether it's from a living donor or an organ donor.
With Chris unable to work, inflation, and all the expenses of traveling, room and boarding, this is where we are asking for your help. NOT only would we LOVE a kidney (A+) but we are asking for donations to help with living expenses and travel expenses. He will have to pay for his rent while he is gone, but the traveling expenses are going to take over as he is on a fixed income. This is an opportunity that will change his life and every donation helps.
Anyone that knows my brother, has always been healthy and very active his whole life. He owned his own welding and fabrication company and was very independent and successful. This has changed his life drastically and we are praying for a miracle.
Thank you for all that you do. Bless you.
