In November 2020 Yogesh Manjkhola, an IT professional, husband, and father of two had an MRI scan that turned his life upside down. Within days, a tumor was identified, and within weeks, Yogesh was diagnosed with Metastatic Cholangiocarcinoma, also known as cancer of the bile duct. His doctors told him the only treatment option is chemotherapy, because the cancer had spread to other parts of his body.
Yogesh has since been battling valiantly, with the support of his stay-at-home wife, Kamini, who also takes care of their two kids, 8-year old daughter Saanvi and 14-month old son, Yash. His work life - the only source of income for his family - has been interrupted, and his financial stability hangs in the balance.
After much deliberation, Yogesh and his family relocated to India and has been residing in Dehradun (Uttarakhand State) with his Mother and Elder Brother's family earlier this year. There, he has been undergoing IntraVenous Chemotherepy, under Dr Ranga Rao Rangaraju (Medical Oncologist and an Army Veteran) at Paras Hospital Gurgaon. The stay at the Hospital has kept to the bare minimum due to the surge in Covid infection sweeping across India.
He had to struggle with his infection and fever taking a toll on his body. He has lost all his body fat and after the 4th Chemo, he had a sudden reduction in Hemoglobin, in early May, and had to be admitted in Dehradun local hospital for 2 units of blood transfusion. Yogesh has decided to trigger Short Term disability and take complete rest.
Additonally, due to his being outside the US border, his official health insurance does not cover his medical expenses and he is having to pay for the chemotherapy and related treatments out of pocket. So he needs our help more than ever before.
Anyone who knows Yogesh knows he is a modest guy with a great sense of humour and a knack for witty come-backs. He is an excellent employee and works very hard. Unfortunately, cancer is threatening everything he has worked so hard to build, including the future of his children.
As you can imagine, embarking on the tough journey to recovery is a mighty challenge, financially and otherwise. Due to the complexity of the issue, health insurance coverage is simply not sufficient.
Yogesh needs our support to fight cancer, and the best way to support him is to donate - and every little bit helps!!
A modest goal of $50,000 has been set to help ease the financial burden, so that Yogesh can rest and focus on recovery. Finances are the last thing his family should be worried about at this hour.
Please donate, so we can show Yogesh that he is not alone and never will be!
Donate, so that we, his colleagues and his friends can assure him that his family will be secure!
Donate, and give courage and hope to him and his family!
On behalf of Yogesh's friends, colleagues and well-wishers, we convey our sincerest gratitude and appreciation! We hope you will consider sharing this message with your network to help reach our goal!
For any further details please feel free to contact his Tampa/NY colleagues.
