Marlice is truly a woman with a heart of gold with a passion of taking care of those she loves. She is a single mom who has devoted her life to raising her son into a kind, caring and supportive man. She truly cherishes her family and is willing to do whatever she can to support them in a time of need. Marlice is also an outstanding preschool teacher who has impacted the lives of hundreds of USAFA's children, military families and her coworkers. Her sense of humor, smile, laugh and BIG hugs brighten the day of everone who has the privledge of knowing her.

Marlice recently suffered a massive stroke and she has been hospitalized for 7 weeks as she is struggling to fully recover. Soon, she will be transferred to an assisted living/rehabilitation facility where she will recieve ongoing treatment and rehabilitation. At this time, she is still unable to speak clearly and move the right side of her body. Due to loss of appetite (or the fact she doesn't like hospital food), she is on a feeding tube in order to keep her body nourished. It is anticipated that this will be a long recovery for Marlice and some of the side effects may be permanent.

Since Marlice has been unable to work, she is now out of leave so she is no longer recieving a pay check. Even though her son is working, work hours are limited because he has hardly left his mothers side since the stroke. Funds raised will help Marlice and her son ensure their rent, utilities and other bills are paid. Additionally, the funding will help pay any unforseen medical expenses.
