Medical Support for the Kelly family

In March of last year, Jon and Krissy were preparing to welcome their second little boy into the world when routine bloodwork came back very abnormal. Krissy was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukemia called Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Doctors and nurses worked with them to create a plan during her last weeks of pregnancy, and after starting chemo, Krissy went into labor with their son Oliver (Ollie). There are countless stories through this time of how God faithfully kept both her and Ollie safe. In April, Krissy went into remission and then faced decisions about a bone marrow transplant. Due to a number of circumstances in the summer and fall, it was clear that it wasn’t time to move forward with the transplant and they felt peace about pursuing an Integrative cancer clinic in California. They had an encouraging few weeks of treatments and testing there in early January. However, last week, bloodwork showed that Krissy’s platelet count dropped and so a bone marrow biopsy was taken. The biopsy results came back on January 29, 2024 and showed a return of the leukemia. The doctor will administer a high dose/intensive chemo treatment soon, likely beginning February 5th. This will require a hospital stay of 6-10 days, depending on how her body responds to the chemo. He feels confident of a 90% chance of this treatment bringing her back into remission. However, her numbers (blood cell counts and immunity levels) will likely drop dramatically and not begin to return to normal for several weeks. When remission is established, the doctor would like her to have the bone marrow transplant at that time, so likely about 2 months from now if they proceed with it. The transplant procedure and recovery would likely take about 4 months.

Because this is a new calendar year, the Kellys will need to pay out their insurance deductible of about $8000 as well as any continuing copays. It is also very likely Jon will need to take multiple weeks off from work beyond his vacation time. While his company has been very accommodating and willing to work with him on this, he will not be able to be paid for any time off after using all his vacation days. For these reasons, the friends and family of the Kellys are keeping this fundraiser active if anyone would like to donate to these upcoming costs.

Jon and Krissy are holding up well considering all the ups and downs, and continue to trust God through it all. They have seen Him work in amazing ways through this journey and are continuing to trust. They are so thankful for each of you and your prayers, support and encouragement

Thank you so much we are all deeply grateful!

If you would like to donate to help with their financial costs, these funds will go to help cover:
- Medical bills
- For Jon to be able to take unpaid days off of work when needed to care for Krissy and the boys
