On Sunday, October 23rd, 2022 Indi (my beloved 2.5-year-old niece) was found floating unresponsive in a swimming pool in Nicaragua. My sister found her blue in the face and with no pulse. Cris and Danielle immediately administered CPR. She was then transported to a hospital and sedated, remaining for the next 36 hours.

This morning, Tuesday, October 25th, Indi was extubated and could finally breathe on her own. She came out of sedation and opened her eyes, and was able to speak, "Mami, Papi." While this is a relief after days of waiting in agony, we are still not out of the woods.

Indi will require costly brain scans, medications and likely intensive support from health professionals in the coming months and even years. I have started this gofundme to take some of the financial burdens of this traumatic event and long recovery.
