Medical Support for Christine Landgren

As you all know, Christine Landgren is the most brilliant, beautiful, and kind human. She has devoted her life to helping people heal as an orthopedic Physician Assistant, but what’s even more impressive is the way she carries herself— with this rare, infectious lightness that eases everyone around her. Unfortunately, despite her joyful optimism, Christine has endured unthinkable tragedies in 2022.

In the early morning of Monday January 3rd, Christine’s dad was in a devastating car accident on his way to work. He passed away hours later at Grady Hospital surrounded by his wife Jo, sons Sean and Chad, and daughter Christine.

Five days later, on the way home from her dad’s funeral, Christine was faced with another catastrophe when a golf cart tire popped, ejecting her from the vehicle. She was pinned under the golf cart and endured multiple injuries. She was taken to Grady Hospital as a major trauma, and she was found to have broken bones in her face, scapula, spine, and ribs, as well as a punctured lung. Christine underwent surgery to correct the facial fracture and started physical therapy to try to walk again through debilitating pain. All the while, Christine spent her time in the hospital making me, her friends, family, and 4.4 million other people smile. Most people would scoff at being stuck in a small hospital room with a roommate during the worst week of their lives, but never Christine! Instead she used this as an opportunity to connect with another hurting human, and together they created their own joy by making the most wholesome, heartwarming TikToks displaying their roomie bonding.

Despite her steadfast positivity, Christine knows that the path to recovering physically, mentally, and emotionally will be an difficult one. On top of that, Christine’s family must cover the cost of her late father’s medical treatment and funeral, as well as Christine’s hospitalization, surgery, and future therapies. Not to mention, Christine is laden with student loans collected throughout her Physician Assistant education. As student loan repayment approaches, and Christine remains unable to work, the weight of these financial burdens feels impossible to carry.
