Medical Support for Bruce

UPDATE: Bruce had mitral valve replacement surgery on Friday 2/17 and it was successful. Due to low blood pressure and low heart rate he did spend some extra days in the ICU. He is still dealing with those complications so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you to everyone that has shown support in any way, it is very much appreciated.

Hi my name is Kaylin, my family and I are raising money for my Grandpa Bruce. 

In December of 2021 Bruce got Covid and struggled to get better. After a couple of months of dealing with complications doctors found out he had two bad heart valves. With his history of Hodgkin's Lymphoma and radiation treatments he has had scar tissue build up that has made surgery to repair his heart valves more complicated. 

In 2022 Bruce was able to have his aortic valve replaced with hopes of that being enough to improve his health issues. Sadly, he saw little improvement and visited several doctors in Des Moines that were unable to perform the surgery needed or provide treatment and was referred to a specialist in Kansas City. This specialist determined that he is a candidate for open heart surgery to repair his mitral valve. His surgery is scheduled for February 17th in Kansas City. We are all very thankful for the doctors and their efforts to help Bruce feel better again. 

Since getting Covid and discovering his heart condition Bruce has been on disability from work. With the reduced income and his wife unable to work due to her own medical problems they could use help financially. Bruce has always been someone that would help anyone in need. He always puts others before himself so now it’s our time to help him and get him better! Thank you for taking the time to read this.
