This Gofundme was started to help my friend Avonda Johnston, who contracted COVID which then turned into pneumonia creating great damage to her lungs and then resulting in her kidneys shutting down. While Avonda is fighting for her life, her husband of 28 years has been doing everything he can to stay by her side and seek the best medical care, but also needing to continue to find time to provide for their financial needs. The road of healing ahead is long for Avonda and they both will need the love, prayers and support of their friends and community.

Most of you know what has happened to my beautiful wife Avonda, but for those of you who don’t know, she got Covid back on Jan. 24, and after 4 days, she became very sick to the point that I rushed her to the ER. It just kept escalating until she had its infection throughout her lungs and then eventually in her kidneys. Her doctor got the Covid infection down to almost nothing in about 5 days but the damage that was done to her lungs and kidneys was more than we first thought. The facility did not have a Dialysis machine for her kidneys so she was life-flighted to hospital out of state where she has been since Friday of last week. She has been in continuous dialysis and intubated with the vent. She is no longer Covid critical but her lungs and kidneys were critical and she is fighting for her life. It has been the most challenging trial for both of us in our 28 years of marriage. She is currently stable with good levels with her oxygen and kidneys. We are committed to doing everything possible to save her life!!! I spent Valentine's Day next to her bedside praying nonstop and crying more than I ever knew I could. This past year we both have renewed our covenant commitment to each other and to our Father in Heaven. During that time we both have grown Spiritually and have fallen so very deep in love all over again! There truly aren’t words to describe our love for each other. She has changed me in ways I never dreamed of, and I am so very blessed to have her in my life! This is going to be a very long road for her physically!!! She is still considered very critical. All of you are Prayer warriors and your prayers would so mean a lot right now!!! We won’t give up!! I am asking the Lord for a miracle of healing and recovery for her!!! I hope that God will grant us many more years together so that we both may finish strong our time here in this life!!! Thank you and God Bless all of you!!!

 

As an update, Avonda was transported to a Nashville facility for physical therapy and continued recovery.  I'm grateful to share that she is now able to talk and eat!  However, your prayers and support continue to be appreciated by Barney and Avonda for the long road of recovery ahead.  Please feel free to share this link on your own social media as a way to share their need!
