Medical supplies needs-Makassed General Hospital

The financial crisis that is gripping Lebanon is taking its toll on the health care system. Makassed General Hospital (MGH) - just like other hospitals- has been forced to cut down on surgeries because of the shortage of anesthetics and other medical supplies.

Makassed Foundation of America  (MFA) is calling on the generosity of its supporters and friends to join forces and help MGH in serving those in need.

Your donations in any amount during these very difficult times can make a big difference in the treatment of patients at risk.  A heartfelt thank you in the name of all of us at MFA and in the name of MGH patients for helping us continue our humanitarian mission.

The following amounts will allow MGH to meet its needs for a period of 3 months:

Hematology drugs: $51,000

Surgical anesthetics: $7,000

Essential medicines: $30,000

Lab Equipment: $320,000

Since its foundation in 1930 in Beirut, Makassed General Hospital (MGH) has been providing patients with high-quality and affordable medical services.

MGH continues its strong legacy and has grown in size, scope and reputation, offering a full range of inpatient, outpatient and emergency medical services.

In 2020, MGH provided medical care to more than 12,746 inpatients, whereas the total number of patients who benefited from Dialysis Sessions, Private Clinics visits, Emergency Rooms visits, Laboratory tests, Radiology, and MRI has reached 479,820 beneficiaries.

MGH is equipped with the service capabilities needed to support a qualified staff of 150 medical specialists and other licensed physicians, 400 nurses and 350 administrative staff.

The Hospital also offers postdoctoral medical and fellowship training programs for physicians through its affiliations with the American University of Beirut (AUB) and Beirut Arab University (BAU), as well as Lille University in France.

MGH is among the top medical facilities in Lebanon and has received the Class A rating by the Ministry of Public Health and it is also ISO and HACCP certified, focusing on quality control and the sanitation of facilities and equipment.
