We are a Palestinian medical students studying at Kasr Al Ainy Medical School in Egypt. Due to the ongoing blockade in Palestine, we have not been receiving funds from our families. Normally, our families send us money for food, housing, and other living expenses, but without this money, we have been put under immense financial pressure to afford basic needs. This has also come with emotional strain as we have been dealing with our communities being violently attacked by IOF forces. To help relieve these burdens, we are attempting to fundraise 15,000 Euros. This would help cover our ongoing living expenses, keep us in school, and provide food for 150 students for a month. “I, personally, am going through a very bad time because of the things that happened and the whole world saw it. At the same time, I am in my graduation year and I am taking the end-of-year exams, which are considered the most difficult of them. I am also worried about my family there and waiting for news. This is a small part of the suffering for many students here.”
Because work has stopped in Gaza families do not have the ability to provide for their children. It is difficult to deliver money transfers given the consistent violence. Additionally, because of the conditions in Egypt and the demands of their studies, students are not allowed to work to provide for themselves. All of these conditions together leave these students trapped and unable to obtain food.
