Hi everyone,
I am writing this on behalf of my mom — known to so many as a second mom, and lovingly called Mama C.
Last year, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 1 colon cancer. After undergoing radiation, her cancer unfortunately progressed to Stage 2. In October, she made the difficult decision to begin chemotherapy. While she is nearing the end of this journey, the past year has taken a heavy toll. She has endured extreme weight loss, frequent illness, and long, exhausting days as her body fights through treatment.
Recently, her oncologist recommended an additional treatment called Pembrolizumab. This medication helps the immune system recognize and attack cancer cells and has shown very promising results, with an estimated 80% chance of success. The challenge is that this treatment is currently part of a trial and is not covered by insurance. The injections are administered between chemotherapy sessions, and my mom still has four chemo treatments remaining.
As a family, we have been able to cover half of the cost, but we are still trying to raise $3,500 to move forward with this treatment.
My mom is still so young and has so much life left to live. Any donation, no matter the size, would mean more than words can express. If you are unable to donate, a prayer, positive thought, or sharing this page is just as deeply appreciated.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, love, and support. If you know my mom, please feel free to share this with others who may want to help.
With lots of love,
The Cacilhas Family
