Medical relief fund for Jon Wood

Donation protected

Hello everyone,
This fund raiser is for a long time Mulegé and LaPaz resident Jon Wood. He has recently had medical problems, and has required lots of test to determine why there is swelling on his brain. It’s been rough during this COVID crisis for everyone, but Jon worked very hard to support his young family, but the headaches were too much and now his eyesight has been diminished to a point that he cannot work or drive. He has always been a contributing member of our Mexican home, and has helped others when help was needed. We are looking for donations to cover medical and living expenses while the doctors explore every non surgical option. But we may need airfare to England as well if the problem cannot be managed in LaPaz. You can direct message Jen or Tim Gospodnetich for more details as we learn them or if you are donating from another country, we can walk you through the donation process. We encourage you to share this story with anyone that knows Jon wood. Every donation big or small is greatly appreciated. Thank you !
Jen and Tim Gospodnetich.

UPDATE

So we wanted to thank everyone for there support and continued support, every bit help. Francesca and John wanted to show everyone where the funds that have been donated are going, and how they are being spent. And keep in mind these are monthly expenses, and do not include air fair or lodging. So anything you can give is greatly appreciated. The rest of this is written by Francesca.

My cousin who’s a doctor from Mexico City currently in USA but still has his contacts got me a specialist who gave us a space and a discount

In a really
Good hospital, even with all the expenses it still will be cheaper than going to Cabo and having it done there, plus they didn’t even have a space
To book us

He’s been in rehab therapy everyday now since the 5th

And he’s improving a lot, he already looks different, it’s been hard for him cause somethings are very frustrating to do but he’s been such a good sport, he doesn’t quit and he gives his hundred percent even if it’s not a hundred porcent now but seriously talk about making a massive effort to get better ❤

But it’s all the therapies and the pills and the rest and all, his vision is still pretty much the same but some days he says to eres some tiny changes and we hope that means the exercises are working, they’re working very hard with him to chose the right exercises to help him create the neurological connections and “re-learn” like they call it

We can’t stop now if we want him to keep improving and use time to our advantage and improve as much as possible

The neurologist says it’s important to place the exact place where the stroke happened and determine why etc to prevent it happened again etc and continue with proper treatment but we should continue with all therapies

He wants another mri in a month or so to see how the brain looks after this time and the therapy to determine the area that is damaged and also so the neurophysiology knows what to work on and how it’s evolving

He’s been on a good run of probably 2 weeks of being good till yesterday where he didn’t have a good day like before but those days are more sporadic and that’s filling us all with hope, he keeps saying he wants to get better and start cooking again and making food to sell from home in the beginning and see if he can get back to work or find another job that will be suitable, you should see him during the exercises they make him to “normal” everyday stuff but on unstable surfaces, balls, pads, they cover one eye at a time, they throw stuff at him sometimes, and you should see his face, it breaks my heart cause I know how good he was at doing sports and all sorts of things and he’s behind that, but he’s trying with all his might, and everyone is very pleased with him and praising him; they checked his pressure and oxygen yesterday when he didn’t feel okay and it all seemed fine, he needed some rest. But oh boy has he improved ❤
And please thank everyone that has helped. We feel lucky to have such support in our time of need.

They don’t know yet when he’ll be able to go back to normal life and work, after the 6 weeks they’ll re evaluate progress and give us a new schedule/ treatment to follow

But it could go on between 3-6 months according to the neurophysiologist
