Medical Relief for Oscar Horner
Donation protected
Our friend Oscar Horner had very scary brush with death this last week. After coming down with flu-like symptoms last weekend, Oscar was admitted to the hospital where he was diagnosed with Hepatitis A, a virus that causes a severe liver infection. Oscar became acutely ill, and for a short period of time his life appeared to be in danger. Oscar was transferred from his first hospital to the liver speciality unit at NYU Langone where he received a lifesaving treatment, without which his liver would have failed and he would be in need of a transplant.

Fortunately today, Friday, March 6, Oscar was discharged from the hospital and is now home recovering with his boyfriend Matt.

Oscar does have health insurance, however he has a $4,300 deductible to meet before his insurance kicks in, potentially owing up $8,900 out of pocket. While in two different hospitals over 4 days, Oscar underwent x-rays, CAT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and two ambulance rides. He has a long road to recovery ahead of him, and he still does not know what additional treatments he might have to undergo or costs he might incur.
Oscar recently started a new job, and he is unsure how much time he will have to take off before he is able to begin working again. We arbitrarily set a goal of raising $10,000 for Oscar to both cover whatever medical bills he may incur as well as to help him stay on his feet and at home with Matt in New York during his recovery.
Please give what you can and share this with others who know and love Oscar.
