Medical Recovery Downunder!
UPDATE: September 6th, 2020
Just as we thought Jaclyn was on the mend with beginning to walk with one crutch we had some un expected news. As she went for her check up with her Doctor she was expecting him to be excited at her progress. However instead he noticed that her knee was quite swollen.
Initially believing it was blood around her knee from the swelling he went to drain it with syringe. Instead what came out was yellow-greeny puss that Jaclyn said was quite painful.
The doctor said that it was an infection with the possibility of grout or septic arthritis in knee and she needed surgery ASAP. Due to COVID she had to await her COVID test results and had her surgery last Friday and spent 5 days in hospital to make sure the infection was cleared out with the scope. During her time in hospital she also had to undergo antibiotics and a head MRI as she had a split migraine and doctors were concerned this was related to the infection.
She is back on the mend now, but has a pile of medical expenses (an MRI alone is around $500), and is now underway with her rehab and physio which is unfortunately costly in itself.
For someone who is so passionate about fitness and moving her body, this injury has tested not only her physical, but mental strength.
Her friends and family want to support her through this as she strengthens her knee and muscles, and moves off of crutches from using them for the past 10 weeks.
Any donation you can give to support my niece is greatly appreciated.
Sending our hugs and love to her Down Under in Australia.

Hello Family and Friends
As many of you know in 2019 Jaclyn began a short term teaching assignment in Australia. Unfortunately COVID changed her plans and she remains there; she is coming up to her second anniversary in Australia. It has been a great opportunity for her to do what she loves most, which is encouraging young minds and teaching special needs children in Melbourne.
Sport recreation and physical fitness are also a big part of Jaclyn’s life. Her passion is soccer and having played her entire life, she quickly found a home and good friends on a Melbourne womens soccer team.
Unfortunately at the end of June 2021 Jaclyn had a terrible soccer accident, resulting in a serious leg & knee injury; she had broken her leg at the tibial plateau with the further possibility of an ACL tear. She is currently in a full straight leg brace/cast which goes from thigh to ankle and due to the location of the break it is expected to be required for 8-12 weeks. After that, a determination will be made on the knee and ACL.
The news has been devastating as she is no longer able to work and has no sick benefits. During this time she in encountering unforeseen medical expenses and has no income. A return to Canada is not an immediate option due to the restrictions of COVID and the many lock-downs Australia has encountered. She also would not have medical coverage in Canada for at least 3 months due to the duration she has been gone.
Her doctors have said that it will be a long road to recovery. With her need for continued MRI’s, medical care and physiotherapy, we hope you can help in providing some financial support to Jaclyn during this difficult time.
Any donation will help and will be greatly appreciated.
