Treatment for Beverly's Tremor

Donation protected
Today is June 29th and the day I received my treatment for my essential tremor condition.  First off, Stanford Medical Center and their Neuroscience Department are staffed with the most professional and cutting edge individuals in the country.  We arrived at 5:45 this am and were met by Dr. Gharoundi, the chief of the radiology department, and Dr. Halpern, Neurosurgeon and their staff who help prep me and preformed the MR guided focused ultra sound procedure.  The procedure in the MRI machine took about 4.5 hours.  The prep work I engaged in for the past 6 months to handle my anxiety paid off and I was relaxed and confident throughout my time in the MRI machine.  I thought of ALL OF YOU while there who have offered me support in the past few months and made it possible for me to treat my tremor.   Jerry and I were both in tears over the improvement in my symptoms! I kept forgetting that I was tremor free this evening and would reach for my full glass of a refreshing kale drink with both hands!! Please view the attached video to see my steady hand just a couple of hours after being released from post op!  Amazing!!

I would be very happy to spend time with any of you and/or your friends/relatives who are suffering from this affliction or just curious about my journey.  I can be reached by email at [email redacted].  Put "essential tremor" in the subject line so that I can identify you and respond.

Always and all ways grateful to each and every one of you.

Fondly,

Beverly McGowan

Beverly McGowan is a Nurse Practitioner from Missoula, MT.  She has been a care-giver for others the better part of her life.  She has worked with Veterans of our armed services at the VA in Missoula, MT for more than 10 years.  Beverly has since retired from the VA and is now serving the people of Montana doing medical exams for Medicare across the state.  Her love and commitment to others has always been her trademark.  Beverly has always gone above and beyond for any and all who needed her help. They say when you love what you do, you never need to go to work.  That is so very true for Beverly as her passion is making a difference in other's lives.

Several years ago Beverly developed an essential tremor.  This condition was likely to develop  as  her father experienced it as well.  Sadly, it will continue to progress unless Beverly can receive treatment for it.
It is a debilitating and progressive condition, that can lead to where one cannot feed themselves or complete the essential activities of daily living.

Her commitment to helping others is so very important to her that she is seeking funding for a treatment that has only recently been approved in this country.   The procedure is called Magnetic Resonance Guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS).  Also known as Neuravive,  MRI imaging is used to guide ultrasound waves through the skull to the thalamus, deep inside the brain,  where they destroy the misfiring nerve cells.   The effective rate for this procedure has been outstanding and the results so far have been shown to be permanent.  However, since the procedure is  NOT covered by insurance,  she needs to find the necessary funding prior to her procedure taking place on June 29, 2018, at Stanford University Medical Center.
The procedure  would normally cost $50,000.  However, after extensive preliminary testing,  Beverly has been approved to have the procedure done at a 50% reduction in cost.  The one condition that allows for that 50% reduction to take place, is a commitment on her part to fund the $25,000 cost of the procedure by the week of June 17, 2018, a week prior to the procedure taking place.
As Beverly's fervent desire is to continue reaching out to help people throughout Montana, she is seeking support from friends and family, people she has helped in the past, as well as anyone who feels they may one day require the services of someone like Beverly to care for them.
If you are a compassionate person who  would like to support her commitment to helping others less fortunate, kindly feel free to donate to her cause.
Thank you so very much in advance for your kindness and generosity, as it will help many others besides Beverly to make this world a better place.
