Renato B. Roda, is a very close family and has also always been a friend of mine. It all started last October 2015, when he had a check-up because he suffered from an excruciating abdominal pain. We encouraged him to have a CT scan procedure and that day, was what we could describe as the darkest day for him as we all have found out that he is already suffering from liver cancer. At first, the liver mass measured 6.8x10.4x10.6 cm (APxWxCC) so the Doctor advised him to have an immediate operation. Upon this news, Renato has also opted to seek 2nd opinion, he valued the advise of a holistic approach to his illness. Finances have played a big part in his decision making process, eventually he chose to take the least aggressive method and relied on herbal and holistic treatment.
I knew Renato as a person who is a very hardworking and kind-hearted person. He would spend most of his time working as a driver. A year and a half later, his condition worsened.
He took a leave of absence from work and with the generosity of his employer and other relations, he was still able to have an allowance that sustained his living expenses but still needed to save for the dreaded operation, not to mention its exorbitant financial impact!
Last August 2016, he was advised to have an operation because the liver mass has turned into tumor markers. He had also undergone a biopsy which revealed that he also has Hepatocellular Carcinoma.
In 2017, he had an opportunity to have a triphasic CT scan with contrast and found out that the liver mass was getting bigger. He asked for financial assistance with DOH (Department of Health in Philippines) and he had a PET SCAN procedure at NKTI.
Every penny counts, his family, friends and long time employer have supported Renato's fight, in all facets, mentally, emotionally and financially.
Now, we humbly ask for more donation in order to meet Renato's goal for his operation.
