My dear friend Joca was one of the first to welcome me when I started my new position in Guatemala. She has been such an incredible support through so many ups and downs during my time here. She goes above and beyond so many times to support others around her.

Now it’s my turn to shower her with the same love and support that she gives to others…

About a month ago, Jocabed went to the hospital with severe pain and ended up needing emergency surgery. However, the underlying problem was not corrected, and she ended up back in the emergency room just a few weeks later for a second emergency surgery which once again was not properly performed. Due to this, after nearly a month of complications and trying to recuperate from two major surgeries, she is once again needing surgery. In order for her to receive the care she truly needs and to avoid further complications, she is seeking treatment from a private specialist who will be able to fully correct her underlying medical problem. Surgery with a private physician in a private hospital is a huge, unexpected cost for her and her family. I want for her to be able to get care that she needs and have the time to recuperate without worrying about her family’s financial situation. I know that any support will mean so very much to her and her husband.

Mi querida amiga, Joca, fue una de las primeras personas en darme la bienvenida a mi nuevo trabajo en Guatemala. Ella ha sido una amiga tan fiel en muchos altibajos desde que yo vine a Guatemala. Ella ha servido  con pasión y constancia y siempre va más allá de lo requerido para apoyar a sus compañeras.

Ahora es mi turno para mostrarle el mismo amor y apoyo que ella siempre demuestra a otros….

Hace más o menos un mes, Jocabed fue al hospital con dolor fuerte que resultó en la necesidad de una cirugía emergente. Sin embargo, la cirugía no corrigió la condición subyacente, y algunas semanas después se encontró otra vez en emergencia. Su segunda cirugía tampoco fue exitosa. Por eso, después de casi un mes en recuperación con muchas complicaciones, ella necesita una tercera cirugía.

Por esta tercera cirugía, ella está buscando el tratamiento con una especialista privada para que pueda recibir el cuidado que realmente necesita y poder prevenir aún más complicaciones. Para tener la cirugía con especialista privada será un costo grande e inesperado para su familia. Es mi deseo que ella no solo recibe su cirugía pero que pueda recuperarse sin preocupación alguna por su situación financiera. Cualquier apoyo significará mucho para ella y su esposo.
