A 396 km midnight ambulance ride. 17 specialists. A medical mystery. One desperate fight to save our Dad’s life.

Our Dad is battling a complex medical nightmare. What began in mid-April as a severe string of infections rapidly spiralled into sepsis. Dropping everything, I flew from Canada to help our family orchestrate a terrifying 396 km midnight ambulance run to Manila just to keep him alive.

Shortly after arriving, his body was pushed past its breaking point. He suffered a collapsed lung, a massive inflammatory storm affecting different organs, and barely survived a critical 72-hour window where we nearly lost him.

Right now, his case is a complete medical mystery.

Despite having a dedicated, growing team of 17 specialists, doctors still cannot pinpoint the exact root cause. Because they cannot find a specific targeted treatment, they have had to throw absolutely everything at him. He has endured a relentless, round-the-clock barrage of broad-spectrum antibiotics, heavy steroids, and complex ICU procedures just to keep him breathing.

But our Dad is a fighter.

His medical team is hoping to move him out of the isolated ICU soon, not because he is cured, but because the love and presence of family are now vital medical necessities for his recovery.

However, enduring over 1.5 months of near-fatal emergencies has taken a massive toll. Doctors have warned us that his body is at its absolute limit, and he now faces a prolonged, extensive rehabilitation that will take months.

The financial reality of this fight is devastating. His hospital bills, not including professional fees and extended treatment, are expected to more than double by June:

• Total Bill (as of May 28 morning): +Php 2.1M (~CAD 48k)

• Urgent Outstanding Balance: Php 1.5M (~CAD 34k)

• Expected Future Hospital Bills: +Php 4.4M (~CAD 100k)

We are terrified that without help, we will not be able to afford the life-saving treatments he still desperately needs. We cannot do this alone. Please help us give him the chance to heal surrounded by his family.
