On February 28 my brother, Pete Bodnar, fell and suffered a traumatic head and brain injury. He spent time in the ICU and is currently recovering in the Trauma Step-Down Unit here in Orlando, FL, where we are so lucky to have one of the best trauma centers in the country.
The past week of his recovery has been a slow, scary process. The doctors have reassured us that he will recover but we do not have a timeline and he is still being closely monitored.
Pete has been the owner and operator of a home remodeling business for years and that presents a problem for his immediate financial future. Most of all, we want him to be able to recover physically and cognitively without the stress of finances.
Over the past 9 days I have witnessed God working miracles and it's been nothing short of amazing. So many people are praying and I feel it is working. Pete's girlfriend, Lisa, has faithfully been by his side 24 hours a day at the hospital, advocating on his behalf and showing more strength than I've ever witnessed firsthand from one person. I credit so much of his progress to her selfless, loving care.
My goal is to take as much stress from both of them when he is able to return home as she will be his main caregiver while he gains his strength back. My brother is an amazing person, there aren't enough words to describe his heart, his caring for others, his love for God.
I know people may want more details but I would like to be respectful of his privacy and hope everyone understands.
Every penny raised will go directly to Pete, and thank you from the the bottom of my heart. Thank you, also, on behalf of our mother and my sisters, Bernadette, Mary, Theresa and Elizabeth.
