Medical life support for our babygirl Lola

Donation protected
My sweet Lola girl is fighting hard for her life right now. She’s overcome so much in her almost four years of life. She’s already battled two stomach surgeries due to an obstruction and the other for a perforated ulcer. These two surgeries were both before she turned 1 years old.

Lola is such a sweet girl. She’s always nice to every person she meets, yet can be shy and sometimes hides behind us or her brother piggy Leonard. Lola is also a sassy princess because she’s the top hog among all three of our pigs. She has such a unique personality trait. She’s our most active yet troublemaker pig. She loves to explore and get into things she’s not supposed to. I just want my sassy troublemaker to get better and to take all her pain away :(. Her favorite thing is cuddling with her brother Leonard or her dad. I know she loves me so much, but she has an unbreakable bond/obsession with her dad. She will do anything to squeeze in between myself or Leonard to cuddle with him. It crushes us to see our sweet girl like this.

She is now fighting a bad ulcer and or pyloric stenosis. She showed us signs of vomiting, lethargy and refusing to eat/drink since Sunday, 09/11. She has been getting round-the-clock hospice care at UC Davis since Monday morning. We thought she was on the mend, but she took a turn for the worse Wednesday, 09/14. She’s been in and out of being unconscious and is super weak. My poor baby is fighting so hard right now.

Yesterday, on 9/15, they had to go into emergency surgery. Unfortunately, once the doctors were in the middle of surgery, the scar tissue from her previous surgeries was too thick, and they said it would be too risky to continue. So they closed her up and are now continuing hospice care to support her. They think she may also have Pyloric Stenosis, which is a condition where the stomach and small intestines thicken, which is why she keeps bloating. They pumped almost a gallon of liquid out, but they’re worried it will keep filling up. Usually, surgery can correct it, but they already tried going in and said it was too high a risk to continue to cut deeper. So we are praying, hoping and wishing for a miracle.

I know she has a will to fight; I can see it in her eyes. And if you knew Lola, you know she would do anything to keep going. Every day she has been getting the works. Blood work, multiple radiographs and ultrasounds, oxygen mask, IV Liquids and round-the-clock hospice/life support. Including her emergency surgery on 9/15 as well. Our bill is growing fast with her hospice care. Unfortunately, since she has a history of having an Ulcer/surgeries when she was young, a lot of her treatments aren’t covered under her insurance because it is a “pre-existing health condition.”

Thank you for taking the time to read about our sweet girl. If you are able to donate, share or repost about our baby girl, it would mean the world to us. Although we understand that times are tough with everything going on, if you can share our post, it still brings awareness and help. We appreciate you all so much and from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being there for us with messages, love, prayers, thoughts and kindness.

Love you all,

Lola, Leonard, Louie, Luna, Sabrina and Dustin
