Medical, Legal for LAPD-brutalized LGBTQ Person

Donation protected
Hi, at the LA Pride March on Sunday, June 12th, my 22 year old trans nonbinary friend Sunflower (they/them) was brutalized by the LAPD for the crime of spitting on the ground near a cop. They were shoved to the ground, dragged, punched, choked, and then held on the hot asphalt while they suffered a seizure. Arrested and then hospitalized for arrest related injuries, they were absurdly charged with Battery on a Peace Officer.

This graphic scene was right in the middle of the Pride parade, on the street with many onlookers. In the video below, you can hear horrified people screaming. You can also see how some people even tried to intervene. You can see Sunflower running in terror.

In this graphic video, you can see their eye injury, having just been punched by a cop. While being restrained, they go into a seizure (they're an epileptic).

Sunflower was taken away in an ambulance and handcuffed to a hospital bed at Hollywood Presbytyrian. It took 13 hours for LAPD to process and release them, and they refused to adminster or allow people to bring Sunflower seizure medication. Bailed out for $20,000, they now face signficant criminal defense legal fees and medical expenses.

In this picture, you can see the handprint of the arresting officer on Sunflower's arm.

This was a photo taken at 1AM when they were finally released from LA Metropolitan Detention Center.

This photo shows a close up ofsome of the eye and face injuries. The mark on the right side of their eyebrow is from an eyebrow ring that was ripped out during the arrest.

Here are various bruises on their other arm from being grabbed and dragged on the pavement.

This is bruising on their elbow and a burn from the pavement.

I don't think that it's fair that my friend had to suffer so much (and is continuing to be in pain) for such a non-crime. They told me that even the other cops were horrified and were glaring at the one that arrested them. There's a long history of violence of cops against LGBTQAI+ people and it continues to this day. Please donate and share so Sunflower can defend themselves against these charges and seek full recovery. Their seizures typically induce medium duration neurological impairment- sometimes it takes weeks for them to be able to do normal things like walk around after an attack. Some of the funds may be used for living expenses as they may not be able to work.

Thank you.
