This is not the news I wish to share however, it is my moment to moment reality. I have not publicly talked about this, because for a long time, I could not even say the words. Recently, a close friend also battling/fighting cancer, told me to use my voice and allow my family and friends to be there for me. Thank you LG.
I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in March 2023 after being on medical leave from November 22 to January 23. My doctors just never got it quite right. My symptoms were consistently attributed to other things that just never manifested as true. What did manifest, were nodules visibly noticeable and undeniable in my throat area. After several ultrasounds, biopsies and special DNA tissue samples,I was positively diagnosed with cancer in March. Whewww it’s allot. I’m grateful for the identification and the ability to hopefully remove this uninvited guest from my body in June. God is still an amazing and awesome God! Claiming healing in Jesus name.
During my initial medical leave from November to January, I exhausted my vacation and sick leave. Unfortunately, my employer does not participate in state disability which means, I’m not eligible to apply for state disability. In my and my husband most future thoughts, we could not have imagined or planned for this.
While, I have kept moving, praying and stayed committed to smile and persevere, making the decision to take the time off work, for surgery, and to heal has been quite stressful.
I have decided to put my health first and not delay the care I must have for the sake of work priorities and timelines. I’m thankful for FMLA protections to say the least.
I am asking for your support during this time so that I am able to peacefully take the time off for surgery and healing. This help would give me the flexibility to have surgery and heal without the pressures of returning to work too soon and before medically recommended. Any contribution is appreciatively honored. If you are not able to support monetarily, your thoughtfulness and prayers are also sincerely appreciated.
