Sky is a childhood cancer survivor who fought leukemia for several years since the age of 6. Our family suffered physically, mentally, and financially throughout her long course of treatment. She endured a very harsh treatment plan that put her life at risk several times over the course of a few years.

Now, 10 years after her treatment has ended, she found herself fighting for her life once again.

Sky was admitted to the hospital in septic shock and renal failure as the result of a severe kidney infection. She was treated in the ICU for several days; during this course of treatment, it was discovered that Sky has heart issues, possibly as a late effect of her childhood cancer treatment. She went into pulmonary edema from the sepsis treatment, as her effected heart could not take the treatment a healthy young adult her age normally could.

After several weeks in the hospital, Sky was discharged with a long road to recovery and enormous amounts of hospital bills. She needs further cardiac testing and continued monitoring for discovered late effects from her childhood cancer treatment.

Sky is a very happy, outgoing person who makes everyone around her smile. She is a great student attending SDSU and has a bright future ahead of her. She needs your help.
