Medical help for organ prolapse
Donation protected
If you are embarrassed by women's health, you can skip this one. I'm a fan of education on most any topic, and I don't have a problem talking about something that's as common as pelvic organ prolapse.
When Haven was born 12 1/2 years ago, I experienced pretty extensive pelvic organ prolapse. (That's baby Haven and me in the photo.) I have all three types of prolapse. Samaritan Ministries was good to cover the MRIs needed then, and that's when I learned not only about the prolapse, but also that I have bulging discs and scoliosis. My only option, they said, was surgery. I refused that, but didn't get the physical therapy I needed. My midwife was supportive through it all and I am thankful for her.
Recovery was long, hard and dangerous, since it affected my ability to eliminate waste. I have had trouble with digestion and my left hip and leg since, including the development of painful varicose veins in that leg, due to pinched veins. I healed the other areas enough to avoid surgery. Here I insert a shameless plug for "Saving The Whole Woman" and "First Aid For Prolapse," a set of exercises developed by Christine Kent.
A couple of days ago I passed a sizable blood clot that left me woozy the rest of the day. I ran a low-grade fever for a few hours. I drank liquid chlorophyll and a big dose of ionic iron, took a long nap, and asked a few friends for prayer. But what happened next was even more unexpected. The prolapse symptoms have worsened. My left hip and leg are in a good bit of pain, although not as bad as when Haven was born, and I need to see an OB.
Here's what the fundraiser is for: Samaritan Ministries will cover anything big, but the deductible is $1500. I need medical help. I'd like to keep my pelvic organs. I'm going to avoid surgery again if possible, and pelvic floor physical therapy will likely be cheaper anyway. If my friends are able to donate toward me seeing an OB and likely repeating MRIs, I would be very thankful. I just need that first $1500 covered and Samaritan Ministries will pick up the rest.
Thank you!
