Medical Help for Luca

Hey everyone, I'm Jessi's sister, Nora, and I created this to help Jessi and JC offset some of the impending medical costs from baby Luca's recent and unexpected diagnosis and emergency hospital stay.

They had to rush Luca to the ER early Tuesday morning because he could not keep anything down, was lethargic, and his breathing was labored. Shortly after arriving, blood tests were given, urine taken, chest x-rays given, and an IV line were placed. His urine and blood test results indicated extremely high glucose levels. Doctors informed them that Luca has Covid (which was known) Type 1 Diabetes, and bronchitis. The extremely elevated glucose levels unfortunately put Luca into Diabetic Ketoacidosis and they needed to transport him to St. Mary's Pediatric ICU. There, the med staff were able to stabilize his glucose levels. Over the next few days he will be monitored and Jessi and JC will receive counseling and education on how to manage Luca's diabetes. He will need to start taking two daily injections as well as another injection before each meal. He will also have an injection pen for emergency use.
