On Sunday, May 1st Bill was found, in his apartment - in Lima, Peru, unresponsive and immobile. His apartment manager got him to the emergency hospital and later posted a picture of his passport on social media stating briefly what happened. We were lucky enough to have come across the post and have been working constantly to try and assist Bill during this time.
What we have been able to find out is that Bill has a brain tumor covering 40% of the brain.
He is awake, but very confused and unable to properly get his words out. The emergency hospital is not the best, and retrieving information is extremely difficult. There are limited doctors, health supplies, and medical equipment available. There is no medical insurance and most things need to be paid out of pocket. Bills condition is requiring certain tests/scans, which have to take place at other facilities due to the lack of equipment at the current hospital he’s in.
Our family goal is to get him back to the US for further medical treatment, however we must get the needed tests completed in order to fully understand his diagnosis and ability to fly home safely.
This has been extremely hard on our family as we feel completely helpless in getting Bill the care he needs. We are at the mercy of others to help get questions answered, as well as continued out of pocket payments for any ongoing testing/treatments.
Any amount donated to the family will go directly to Bills medical needs, and hopefully his safe return home to us.
Thank you in advance for your love and concern.
The Lee Family.
