URGENT MEDICAL 4 GEOFF & NINA CRISS

Geoff and Nina Criss, parents of 4, were recently featured with their children in the GVB's Ko'ko' Half Marathon commercial. 

Only months later, their family has received sobering news.

For the past several years, Geoff has struggled with strange and constant symptoms of dizziness, nausea, numbness and trouble remembering. Rounds of tests were inconclusive. Although this made life and work increasingly difficult, he has continued with a positive outlook.

On a recent medical trip to the Philippines, doctors discovered that Geoff had a stroke several years back and that esophogeal and disc issues may be causing his strange symptoms. The specialist ordered comprehensive brain evaluations not covered by his insurance. At the same time, Nina was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer which has moved into her lymph nodes. The dr is also concerned about her liver and so additional tests have been ordered before a course of treatment is determined.

Geoff had to abandon his own medical tests, leave Nina in the Philippines in the middle of her tests and return to Guam to work so that he can provide for his family’s expenses. Without Nina's income, Geoff must work more hours.  If Nina comes back to Guam to continue treatment, the insurance provider will only pay a portion which will leave Geoff and Nina with a large medical bill.

Although the costs aren't totally clear, we want to initially raise $35,000 for Geoff and Nina.
1. $5000 per month X 6 months ($30,000) to cover the family's expenses and travel to the Philippines so that Geoff or Genina can be with Nina during testing and treatment.
2. $5000 to cover any treatment and medication for Nina that is not covered by insurance as well as Geoff's additional medical tests and brain scans.
3. Most importantly, this will relieve some of their stress at least temporarily so that Nina can completely focus on healing and recovery.

Although we are initiating this fundraising effort as long-time church friends of Geoff and Nina, we will not be handling any of the cash. The money raised will go directly into the Criss family's bank account.
