Medical Healing Support for Terry Stephens

Many of you may know our dear friend and artist, Terry Stephens. But if you don’t and you are reading this, he has most certainly touched someone’s life close to you. Terry is one of the kindest, sweetest souls I know. He’s the type of person who cares deeply for others and listens attentively with an open heart. There is a faithful optimism and deep compassion within him. He stood by my side and gave his unwavering support during the worst tragedy of my life. Shortly after the unexpected loss of my husband Robert, he lost his dear friend John Bohannon. We have braved some storms together and Terry is no stranger to loss. Both his parents passed away in the last few years and during this time, I’ve witnessed his grace and humility first hand. Now, he is facing the fight of his life and it’s our turn to show support when he needs it the most.
Terry was very recently diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer; one that carries many uncertainties and will require considerable perseverance. He will no doubt be fighting an uphill battle with life altering implications even in the best case scenario. Terry will begin chemo treatments (IV and oral) on May 26th with radiation to follow. Depending on his tolerance, he will have up to 5 infusions at this time. The oral portion will run concurrently for a 5 week duration. There will be surgery to follow and a bevy of out of pockets costs with MRI’s and PET scans, which have already begun. Along with these hurdles of health and work life, Terry has a $7,500. deductible and his prescription co-pays are very high. In this particular time with Covid19 challenging us all, Terry faces even steeper challenges above and beyond his financial capabilities. He is currently furloughed and his employers are working to support him to the best of their ability, nonetheless he will need to stay quarantined during his chemo treatments and surgery which adds more uncertainty to his ability to work in the foreseeable future.
We want to give Terry the show of support he so graciously shares with others. He deserves to know how valued he is, and how much he is loved, and most importantly, that he is not alone in this chapter of his life. With your help, we can begin chipping away at the mountain of medical bills already inundating Terry. If we can help lesson his load, then he can concentrate on healing and putting his cancer into remission. It is no small task to ask for help and we appreciate any support you might be able to kindly offer. No contributions are too small.
