Medical Funds for Bobby “the Peanut Man” Harvey

Hello my name is Melissa Harvey, my Father is Bobby "the peanut man" Harvey. On December 8th 2023 he suffered from a massive stroke from a blood clot on the left side of his brain.

Everyone we know and love knows him as Bobby the “peanut man”. My dad is a small business owner and is the longest standing concessions subcontractor for the Jacksonville Shrimp Triple A baseball team, formally know as the Jacksonville Suns. He has sold peanuts, Cotton candy and snow cones my whole life. He created a life where he can bring simple joys to others and carry on the traditions of “peanuts and cracker jacks” at the old ball games. He also worked for the Jacksonville Jaguars for over 20 years. On top of being a small business owner, he is also a single father and has taken care of me on his own since my mom died in 2003 of cancer.

This stroke caused him to be partially disabled on the right side of his body and he has developed aphasia. We are working on recovering mobility in his right extremities such as being able to do tasks that most of us take for granted such as brushing his teeth or using his right hand to eat: the same goes for using his right leg, he is going to have a long road to recovery to be able to even stand and walk again. My father is only 61 and was a very active man before this occurred.

He has always done his best to provide for me while also being present in my life. He never missed a softball game, school event, or birthday in the name of work. Somehow, someway he always found a way to manage both. Growing up he would take me surfing, encourage me to practice any sport or endeavor I pursued and was always interested in what I was interested in. Even though we lived in poverty as an outsider you would never be able to tell. He has always worked hard to keep a roof over our heads and our bellies full. I am his only child, it has always been Bobby and I against the world.

I am praying I can raise enough to begin to pay for his hospital bills, inpatient and outpatient rehab, his diabetes medications and insurance premiums so he can continue to receive the care he needs.

At this time I don’t know what the future will look like for him, I dont know if he will be able to return to the life he once had as a laboring hard working man. But I do know I want to do everything in my power that I can to support him in his recovery process. Any donation helps and will be greatly appreciated.
