Little Nemo’s Journey
My name is Makayla and I work with Paws and Claws Veterinary Clinic. On Tuesday December 1st we had a 4 week old Golden retriever relinquished to us due to the owner not being able to take care of him. He was originally brought into our clinic in a small box and was freezing cold. After a conversation with the owner he decided it was best to leave the puppy with us. We noticed he had a deformation in his front left leg and shortly after that the Vet found a heart murmur. Due to his leg and heart we knew he would need special medical care but we have to try whatever we can to help this poor baby. I have been caring for him since he came in and he is doing great as far and eating and drinking and his personality it absolutely adorable! He is a little dare devil and with everything about him I thought the name Nemo would fit him perfectly!
We ended up taking some radiographs of Little Nemo to find out he has a congenital pericardial diaphragmatic hernia that will need surgery to be repaired. This type of hernia is causing his bowels and stomach to enter his chest cavity which is detrimental and will eventually cause death if untreated. Unfortunately we are not able to perform this surgery ourselves which leaves us having to take Little Nemo to a specialty clinic to receive the medical care necessary to help him continue his journey and live a long and happy life! We are asking that anybody who can spare even a few dollars please donate so we can help this baby receive the surgeries he needs so he can be healthy!
