Recently Jim and Tina were attacked in their home on Kasiana island. Jim got the worst of it. Most of the bones in his face were broken along with two collar bones. Tina was also beaten by the attacker but thankfully not injured near as much. She has bruising all over and a suspected collar bone break.
Jim was medevacked to a medical center in Seattle, WA and placed on a ventilator in the ICU. Things are still uncertain but scans appear to show little to no brain damage, his swelling has gone down a little bit and he completed his first surgery, which the doctors described as "great." We won't have a verdict until further down the road when his swelling is gone, many more surgeries are completed and they are able to speak with him. Currently he cannot talk but has been communicating with them by other means. Tina has a doctors appointment later this week for her injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
We started this account to help pay for their medical and living costs during this difficult time. All funds received will go directly to their benefit for those reasons. They should receive help from disability and possibly medicaid/medicare, but unfortunately Jim currently doesn't have health insurance. Therefore, an avalanche of uncovered medical costs and additional cost of living expenses are expected. Both Jim and Tina will be living with us until our help is no longer needed so any help given to them is appreciated, as it will also help us.
We are already so grateful to all of the people who have reached out to us to show their support. Whether it was just to see how we are all doing, what could be done to help, or if they could create a GoFundMe page for us. It has made this terrible time just a little bit easier to bare. We will keep this page updated as much as possible as to the conditions of Jim and Tina as they recover.
Again, we really appreciate all of your support, even if its just a quick prayer for them.
