Medical Funds for Anthony (Tony) Byrdsong

My name is Brittani Byrdsong, and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read our story. As some of you may know my husband Anthony (Tony) Byrdsong has been diagnosed with myelofibrosis (Bone marrow cancer) in may 2023. After many obstacles with stem cell therapy in Dallas, we were referred to M.D. Anderson in Houston. Upon our first visit on this long journey they covered every possible question that we could think of, all the way down to the nitty gritty of the financials this transplant would cost. We expected this to be expensive, we just didn’t know how expensive. The stem cell transplant itself is a $565,000 surgery in which our insurance will cover 60% leaving us to cover the other 40%. They have asked for a down payment of $56,000 to start the process of the transplant. When a strong match is found and they start the process of the transplant, Anthony will have to stay in the hospital for 6-8 weeks afterwards for care and close observation. After this time period, he will have to stay in the Houston area no more then 30 min. from the hospital for an additional 4 months were under doctors strict orders Anthony can not work and would essentially need a caregiver 24/7. We were provided a list of places to stay that were within range of the hospital and the cheapest was $1,100/mo or the daily rate of $100/day. Those places did not include food, utilities, or gas to get back and forth for his appointments. All of this is a huge financial commitment that we weren’t ready for but we will definitely have to find the means to get it done. Anyone that knows us knows that we hate to ask for help like this, but this is something that we can not do on our own. Any money donated will be used to help pay the down payment, medical bills, housing, utilities, food, and gas while living in Houston. Any amount you’re willing to donate is greatly appreciated and if you aren’t able to contribute at this time, a share of our story with your friends and family would mean the world to us as well.
