I'm Siobhon McManus. On Friday, July 22nd, my sister Shannon and her husband Jonathan were in a terrible car accident, t-boned on the driver’s side as they were on their way to work. Shannon suffered minor injuries, including a slight shoulder and clavicle fracture. Jon took the brunt of the impact and has been recovering in the hospital for a week now. With a fractured femur, rib, and clavicle, as well as overall muscle trauma, the doctors have said that full recovery may take anywhere from 3-6 months.

We are grateful that Jon's femur fracture surgery went well, and his post-operation recovery from rhabdomyolysis and ileus has significantly improved. In the meantime, the nurses, doctors, and staff at Guam Memorial Hospital have provided excellent care while keeping spirits high.

The funds raised here will be used to offset Shannon and Jon's combined medical expenses, the loss of their car, the cost of replacing irreparably damaged belongings like their instruments, and the loss of income before they can both return to work. Jon will be working hard in physical therapy and rehabilitation for his main injuries, with Shannon as his primary caretaker.

As full-time musicians, they do not have health insurance and will not be able to return to gigging anytime soon. Guam's music community has been their extended family for over a decade. As they take time away to recover, they will no doubt miss the weekly routine of creating art with so many beloved musicians who have filled their lives with beauty and joy.

There has already been such an outpouring of love for Shannon and Jon this past week. They are deeply humbled by the kindness of family, friends, and community members within and even outside their personal circle, who have all upheld them in prayer and support. Words cannot express how much your grace and love has held them through the aftermath of such a traumatic event. We pray God's blessings are returned to you tenfold.
