Medical Fundraiser for Nancy Rogge
Donation protected
Our beloved friend and veterinarian Nancy Rogge has been volunteering in Tanzania at a free vet clinic over the past year. The clinic's mission is to vaccinate local dogs for rabies and other illnesses, as well as to spay and neuter community dogs.
During her last volunteer trip, Nancy was hit by a motorcyclist while biking to the free clinic. From the crash, she broke 4 vertebrae (including her C1), had a vertebral artery dissection, fractured 2 ribs, experienced a serious concussion, incurred a deep wound on her thigh that became badly infected, and still has paralysis of her facial nerve. After receiving some questionable local medical care, she endured a very difficult trip back home to Madison to get the top-notch care possible here in the States. She was admitted to the trauma care unit at UW Hospital where she spent 5 days in treatment.
We are very thankful for her incredible care in Madison. However, her hospital bills have created a new financial burden at a time when she's volunteering in Africa, even though she has medical insurance through the marketplace. We're asking for our community to come together for our favorite veterinarian and neighbor to help with some of the costs to get Nancy back on her feet!
