Medical Fundraiser for Madison Smith
Donation protected
Hello friends and family -
We have started a fundraiser on behalf of the Smith and Leseberg families in support of our niece Madison Lynn Smith, daughter of Colin and Jessie Smith.
Two weeks after Madison was born, late in the evening on February 14 she turned pale, got very cold, and started having difficulty breathing. Colin and Jessie rushed her to the closest ER where her temperature was 91 degrees and she was experiencing respiratory and cardiac issues. Within an hour she was on her way to the children’s hospital in Minneapolis. After a long night, it was determined that Madison was dealing with end stage heart failure. The doctors started with drugs intended to try and fix her heart. Unfortunately, her heart was past the point of repair and she will require a heart transplant.
On February 22nd, Madison underwent open heart surgery to install a Berlin Heart that will help her heart pump blood around her body. This will be in place until she can receive a heart transplant. She will remain in the Masonic Childrens Hospital in Minneapolis until she receives a new heart and is cleared to go home.
Many people have asked how to help and this is one way we can all help. Each $1 will make an impact as any funds from this fundraiser will be used for medical bills, income loss replacement, and everyday expenses for Colin and Jessie.
Colin and Jessie are very thankful for the support they have received thus far, and appreciate any support going forward as they navigate this chapter.
Thank you!
