To know Addie is to love her. She’s witty, funny and brave. Addie is in the 4th grade at Asheville-Pisgah Christian School and attends church at Mt. Pisgah Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her life changed quickly on Friday, September 12, 2025 when she began having extremely painful headaches, dizziness, vomiting and running a high- grade fever and was taken to Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. While in the ICU at Mission Hospital, she began having seizures, unusual facial movements and her condition was not improving. The medical staff made the decision to have her transported to Duke Medical in Durham, NC for more intense treatment. Addie has been diagnosed with Encephalitis (swelling of the brain) and is currently in the Pediatric Specialty Unit. Once Addie is out of the Pediatric Specialty Unit she will be facing a long road of recovery, possibly including weeks of rehabilitation.

This is only the beginning of a long and difficult medical journey. Addie’s family lives over three hours from the hospital, which means constant travel, meals away from home, and nights spent worrying instead of resting.

To help alleviate some of the monetary concerns of daily life and some rapidly accumulating, and rather hefty, medical costs, we are asking for your support to help relieve the financial burden during this difficult time. Donations will go toward Addie’s medical expenses, travel costs, food, and other necessities that allow her family to focus on what matters most — being by her side and supporting her through this fight.
