One of our Collies Fletch began limping around a month ago which turned into him becoming unable to bear any weight on his hind leg.
Fletch was brought to our vet and 2 x rays were completed ( one on his hind leg one on his lungs)
His x ray was sent to a specialist for interpretation which concluded diagnosis unknown
He was prescribed clindamycin and meloxicam for possible infection., which showed no changes in medical condition.
Prescribed itraconazole and meloxicam for possible fungal infection ( we are half way through medication and no improvement, fletch appears to be slowly worsening lacking appetite, hind leg has now become swollen very hard and stiff and he has a lump on sternum)
Our next course of action is Fletch goes to Toronto to specialist to test for osteosarcoma (cancer)for a consultation which is and possible biopsy on soft tissue and bone which can cost a few thousand dollars in Toronto for the procedures plus accomodation
Thereafter a possible amputation which costs a few thousand plus a pathology report of the leg then thereafter possible chemotherapy, pain meds and physical therapy .
Fletch is a proud 94 pound rough collie 8 years old and Alpha pack to our other collies, he is our pride and joy and our fur baby. We are devastated to be having to endure this medical crisis this holiday season
Any donation to assist with Fletchs medical journey is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance
UPDATE a local hospital has looked at Fletch file and x ray as per my request from my vet .
Recommending CT scan and surgical biopsy
Total cost 6,000 this is not including sending results for testing which could be up to 850+ HST
Time is pressing for Fletch
