Our Story
My name is Susan Marie Reeves, and with your help, I'm looking to raise $20,000 for our friend, Penny Nichols' mounting (and related) medical costs.
Penny Nichols is an amazing singer-songwriter and performer, who has shared the stage with legendary artists such as Jackson Browne, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Ponies, Jennifer Warnes and Mary McCaslin. Penny's bio
Penny is also the founder of Summersongs, a songwriter's camp occurring 3 times a year, Wintersongs & Summersongs West in California, and Summersongs East in upstate New York. Summersongs began 20 years ago and Penny, along with her husband, Mark have been tirelessly making all 3 camps happen each year with 70-100 songwriters in attendance. Penny and Mark give all of their love, energy and money to help everyone else in the Summersongs community, in any way they can. It's been Penny's passion to create a nurturing atmosphere to teach songwriters and to grow songwriting communities all over the country.
Penny has been challenged for years with overcoming breast cancer first diagnosed 12 years ago. Two years ago, the cancer started raising its ugly head again, so Penny is in a clinical trial for a new cancer fighting treatment. Mark & Penny did not ask me to do this, I wanted to know if they needed help and then I presented this idea to Penny & Mark, I thought that the last thing they need to think about is money, and they have so many costs that are not covered by insurance. Plus, there are so many other costs in long term medical care. I would love to give back to this amazing woman and man for all that they've done over the years for hundereds & hundreds of people.
