Olivia is a vibrant, joy filled, spunky 5 year old that is currently going through what no child, or family, should ever have to go through. At the beginning of June, this blonde haired, blue eyed little girl was diagnosed with neuroblastoma.
About a month ago Olivia began having severe abdominal pain and cramping. Her doctors thinking it was simply constipation began treating her for that. Unfortunately, she didn't get better and was seen in the emergency room where she was given the same diagnosis as before but this time, with the recommendation of doing a CT scan. Olivia's pediatrician decided to first do a "clean out" regimen which seemed to help for a few days. But on June 1st, Olivia had a terrible night and she stayed home sick with Mom. Continuing to have pain a few days later Olivia was back in the emergency room, this time at Cook Children's Hospital. They did another xray and an ultrasound which led to the discovery of a mass in her stomach. A cat scan and blood work confirmed everyone's worse nightmare...it was neuroblastoma. The following day they performed a bone marrow extraction, a biopsy of the tumor in her chest, and a port was placed in her chest to prepare Olivia for chemo. There are still tests pending that will determine if there are any spots other than the ones they've discovered so far. Olivia is set to start chemo on Thursday, June 8, 2017.
We wanted to start this GoFundMe account to help ease the financial burden on Olivia's family with the expenses that are surely to come as this little angel fights for her life.
This is definitely not what any parent, family or friend wants to see their loved one go through, cancer doesn't care who it attacks. But it doesn't have a family line...it creates new families when friends and family come together for support.
