Hi, my name is Holly Decker and I'm writing to support my best friend Melissa and her beautiful family.  

December 16, 2016 started off as an ordinary day. School, work and family fun. By 10 pm, 5-year old Lukas was complaining of an upset stomach and ended up vomiting all night. The next day, he was having seizures and an ambulance rushed him to St. Francis Hospital. He had a virus that was causing life-threatening brain swelling that baffled the doctors. He was taken by ambulance to IU North and put in the Pediatric ICU where his brain continued to swell. The doctors were concerned that if the swelling did not stop, his breathing would stop. Once again, he was rushed by ambulance to Riley Children's Hospital to the Pediatric ICU unit where he was to have a surgery to drill a hole in his head. Thankfully, after he was transported and stabilized, the swelling began to slow down. At this time, Melissa, Mikel (dad) and Joey (little brother) are living the nightmare of waiting to see how Lukas will recover.
They are still waiting to hear if it will be weeks or months, but we are all praying for a Christmas miracle.

The family hasn't given any thought to the medical bills that are piling up, they are focusing on saving their son. All money raised would go towards medical bills, food, therapy and other expenses to help Lukas recover.

Melissa and Mikel are very appreciative of the prayers and support they've received from friends and family. Healing prayers and any donation, large or small, can help give them a Christmas miracle.
