Medical Fund for Kylie and Kevin Dougherty

On December 31st, Kevin and Kylie Dougherty welcomed their first newborn baby girl. During what should be a time of celebration for this young family, they have been faced with the most difficult trial of their lives.
Just one month after the birth of their daughter, Kylie was admitted to the hospital for what was thought to be low iron or some other postpartum condition. After further testing, however, she was diagnosed with leukemia. Needing more extensive care than that which was available to Kylie in Indiana, Kevin worked to get her admitted to MD Anderson in Houston, Texas which is one of the world’s most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education, and prevention.
Given that they were in Indiana, Kevin put Kylie on a plane with her sister and followed in the car with the baby. The family is now in Houston and is planning to move there permanently in order to afford Kylie the opportunity to continue her treatment at MD Anderson. The treatment timeline is another 3-5 weeks inpatient, 5 months of outpatient visits every other day, then hopefully a transplant. Following that, Kylie will need another 2 years of monitoring at minimum.
Given the long road ahead for the Dougherty family, we would like to help lighten the load financially. As you would expect, medical treatment and the move across states will come at a significant cost. Any help that you can provide is appreciated.
