On Saturday, December 5th, my whole world changed. I was woken up to find out that my dad couldn’t walk, talk, understand me, or move his right arm at all. We later found out that he had a stroke, at age 44. He had no health concerns before this day.
An ambulance came and got him and took him to the hospital. I couldn’t go along. I love my dad and he’s always been my best buddy so this was the scariest moment of my 12 years of life. We didn’t know if he would even make it. I wanted to see him so bad but I couldn’t go into the hospital due to COVID rules.
On Sunday he was moved to Forsyth medical and admitted to the Neuro ICU, where he still is 5 days later. Fortunately he is alive and showing signs of improvement. But my dad owns his own business now (he just started it a couple months ago after dreaming about it for years), and although he set up health insurance, it wasn’t going to start until January 1st. So none of the hospital bills, ambulance rides, many many tests, nor the live-in rehab facility he’ll move to when he gets out will be covered. He’s already worried about the astronomical amount of bills that he’ll have from this, when he needs to just focus on getting better.
I love my dad so much and I felt helpless then realized setting up this fundraiser is a way I can help him. Please consider giving to my dad’s medical fund in any way you can, even if it is only a few dollars. If you can not help financially, that is okay, but please keep him in your prayers. We have a long road to recovery but I am certain I will get my dad back.
