As I look at Josh's facebook page, I see that he has many friends and so many of you have reached out as he has posted his journey from the hospital in Yuma, AZ to the hospital in Phoenix, AZ and then to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
For those of you who are unsure of what exactly Josh is going through; here is HIS STORY.
In November of 2016 Josh was in Yuma, AZ and went to the ER after experiencing chest pain. When they drew blood, they notice abnormalities in his bloodwork. After many tests over the course of the next few weeks, he was sent to a liver specialist in Yuma. More tests followed. On December 7th, he was called into the doctor's office for an urgent meeting. They broke the news that he was born with a liver disease that layed dormant and went undtected his entire life until now. It rapidly attacked his liver and by the time it was diagnosed, his liver was destroyed. His doctor explained that he needed a new liver immediately. They arranged for him to be moved ASAP to a liver disease and transplant specialist at St. Joseph's in Phoenix, AZ. He was told that he must move close to the hospital and begin the process of getting on the list for a new liver.
He took a brief visit to Harmony, MN - his hometown to visit family and friends and experienced another medical emergency there that landed him in Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He met with the transplant team there but unfortunately his insurance is not honored there so he returned to AZ.
Currently, 4 months into this horrible ordeal, he has developed a great support team that have committed to being there for him before and after the potential transplant. But he must get on the list FIRST. His support team is doing all they can to help make this happen. It is a long and physcially demanding process that requires many trips the ER and blood tests. Most of 2017, he has spent in bed, sleeping as he has no energy to do anything.
As you can imagine, he cannot work and has absolutely no source of income, yet his expenses continue and are growing even bigger with his current medical expenses. Josh is trying to get Disability payments but the process can take up to 6 months and even then, the payment is very minimal.
With over 1000 friends, imagine if each friend just donated $10! Better yet $20! I know we all kind of have a bad taste in our mouths for these pleas for help as we've seen so many that really weren't that serious, JOSH's CASE IS VERY, VERY SERIOUS AND HIS NEED FOR HELP IS URGENT! Not one of us can come up with enough money to make a difference but all of us together can most certainly make an impact. Please, I am begging you to donate to this fund so that we may give Josh some optimism as he faces the fight of his life.
Josh is a humble man that finds it hard to even talk about this life threatening disease and he surely did not ever want to be in this position financially but he needs our help. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. May God bless all of you for your kindess and generosity!
