"I may not have a brain... but I have a BIG heart."

Those were the words of Mr. Jesus Ramirez following his diagnosis of a tumorin the frontal lobe of his brain. The nurse came in to give him the news and in a joking manner tells him, 'I didnt know you had a brain', Mr. Ramirez quickly responded... "I may not have a brain... but I have a BIG heart."

Mr. Ramirez's life has been caracterized by "a BIG heart". My name is Michael Feliciano, I am the senior pastor of "Redemptive Word Ministries". Fourteen years ago, July 2003  Mr. Ramirez entered the doors of our church. His big smile and his willingness to help quickly
made him  the children's minister.  He was full of life. His huge smile reflected his heart and his willingness to help was contageous. We realized that Mr. Ramirez's calling was to help those who needed help, especially children, he decided to seek employment teaching children how to grow to be a productive member of society.

When Mr. Ramirez got employed by Tulsa Public Schools the connection was completed. He began to help children and staff tiredlessly. I would hear countless stories of how children were learning in every area, math, sports, life...  This relentless effort to help others led him to be recognized as the support staff of the year for Tulsa Public Schools! But life had a "Bump on the road."

On January 11th, 2017 at 4:35 in the afternoon I received an emergency  call, "Mr. Ramirez had to be rushed to the emergency room and wouldn't be able to attend church."   After church service ended I visited Jesus at the hospital and was confronted with the shocking news, 'they had found a cancerous tumor in his brain. Questions began pouring into my head: How can this be? He was fine two days ago? This can not be, is it operable? Soon we would find out the gravity of the situation.

Mr. Ramirez was soon prepared for exploratory surgery. He faced this as he has faced most things in his life, with a big heart and a great sense of humor.

The surgery proved that the tumor was in worse shape than originally thought. The tumor was a a rare form of cancer that had invaded a large portion of Mr. Ramirez's brain.  Agressive treatment was the order and faith and prayer along with radiation and quimotheraphy were the components.

The Jurney

Three weeks later Mr. Ramirez is recuperating. His wife and family are making great sacrifices to keep him receiving the care that he needs. After surgery I spoke to his son and he said,"This is just a bump on the road. He'll be back." knowing Jesus, I know this to be true.
Why am I asking for help for him and his family? Several reasons; First because this has put a great financial need on the family, Second because , after helping so many people, he deserves to be helped, and lastly, because he would never ask himself. While talking to him yesterday I asked him, How are you feeling, He said "GREAT! I know I have a big heart, I found out I have lots of friends, and now I know I have a brain!" Thats you Jesus....

Ps. He had all the pictures taken during the surgery to teach his students how we are made and how science works!
